fun things

For a long time I've wanted to frame beautiful paper, but Rob didn't really get my desire to frame paper. With this new scrapbooking hobby of mine, I can finally give in to my paper obsession. During a recent trip to the Paper-Source, I was inspired to buy paper and frame it, hoping Rob would go along with my plan if the paper complimented both of our personalities (my husband has a valid concern that if the decorating were left up to me, our condo would become more colorful and shabby chic than something more neutral that we created together. However in it's current state, it's definitely more representative of him, pre-marriage). Anyhow, I discovered some really pretty paper that would look perfect in our bedroom. And to enhance my sell to Rob, I would include a lovely prayer that was given to us at one of my bridal showers that we've been wanting to hang somewhere. This is the paper {we} decided on:

Bertini Gold Ribbon and Luxe Poppy Dots

Here's the final product, hopefully we'll hang them this weekend!

The prayer is really beautiful and I can't wait for it to be hung in our bedroom:

Lord, help us to remember the time we first met and the strong love that grew between us. Help us to apply that love in practical things so nothing divides us. We humbly ask for kind words filled with love and for hearts always ready to ask for forgiveness, as well as to forgive. Lord, we leave our marriage in your hands. Amen

On another note, I've been checking out Kaboodle.com lately and found this adorable cupcake hat. I haven't purchased it yet, but I'm definitely thinking about it. Sometimes I wish we lived in a cooler climate (not really, but there are some really cute jackets and wellies (aka: rain boots, according to J.Crew).

Also, Mimi, my SIL, has a party/wedding planning business and she recently started blogging. Enjoy! her blog! From her blog, I discovered lots of other blogs that I also love, especially:

My Life {as a Sugar Lander} - a designer living in Sugar Land, TX shares her love of crafts, design, photography, Jesus and HGTV.

the {swell} life - a blog written by a San Fran girl who loves crafting, all things vintage, pastel colors, friends & fam, planning parties (& weddings!), taking photos, drinking chai lattes, and most of all Jesus.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the mention!
I framed some paper a couple of years ago and it has been in our dining room. Gabe just brought the frame to me the other day and said, "are you ever going to put something in here?" I guess not everyone appreciates the idea as much as we do!

okay, SO many things to comment on about this post! (1) I planned on framing paper in order to decorate when we had our first house. I thought it was such a creative (and cheap!) way to fill our walls with color and Gerric thought it was a great idea! And I thought I was being original! HA! (2) Your result came our beautiful!!! I love the paper and the prayer. :) (3) LOVE the cupcake hat...You. Must. Buy. (4)How funny, I was reading your photographer's blog today (I check it daily) and decided to click on Mimi's link. I fell in love with her blog! She has amazing ideas and I'm definitely going back there for sure! (5)I also found The Swell Life through her blog and fell in love with that one too! Told you I had a lot to say.

I am blushing! Thanks so much for the mention today!:) I can totally relate to the pre-marriage husband style decorating. Bit by bit I am trying to ditch Jeff's ugly posters and push my limits, replacing everything with shabby chic beauty! Maybe someday we can write a book together about perfectly blending contemporary-manly with feminine-chic!

wow! I just came to your blog through your comment you had left on mine, and to see that you wrote about my little blog that I don't think anyone would read!!! How thoughtful! Thank you so much for your kind words... totally with you on decorating as a new couple--going through that myself, but my Jason is coming around to my side!!

K, maybe it's just me that doesn't get the paper thing.

And what's wrong with pre-marriage husband style again, ladies?

Are there any fellas in the house??
